Hunt In Utah

Utah is a state with an abundance of big game to hunt. The terrain throughout this area of the western United States is home to many large animals, including bighorn sheep, black bear, brown bear, caribou, elk, moose, mountain goat and mountain lion.

Instructions

1. Make plans to hunt moose or forest grouse and pheasants in one of the state's mountainous regions such as the Uinta Mountains. Likewise, Diamond Mountain and the Book Cliffs have an abundance of big game such as antelope.

2. Purchase a combined hunting and fishing license. Even with a basic or combined license, many of the game animals in Utah require an additional hunting permit.

3. Find a variety of game permits or licenses available in Utah. There are resident and nonresident basic hunting licenses, combination licenses, dedicated hunter licenses, a lifetime license dedicated hunter and a nonresident falconry meet license.

4. Get your licenses and permits to hunt in Utah from one of the many Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (see Resources below). License agents are available in every region--the Northern, Northeastern, Central, Southeastern and Southern, Salt Lake County and out-of-state.

5. Show proof of completion of a Hunter Education course when you apply for a license to hunt in Utah. Before a license or permit to hunt will be granted, you must provide the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources with either a previous license or a certificate showing successful completion of Hunter Education.

6. Choose to hunt with one of the many guides throughout the state. You can schedule hunts with archery, rifle and muzzleloader for the big game of your choice. Check out the guide services on the Utah.com website (see Resources below).

7. Buy big game season permits for resident general season deer, antlerless deer, 2-doe antlerless and depredation deer antlerless. Resident and nonresident landowner mitigation permits are available for deer, elk and pronghorn.
