Experience Chico Hot Springs In Montana

When you think of the wild west with its wide open plains, farmland and tumbleweeds, a soak in some natural hot springs may be the last thing that comes to mind. But the northwestern U.S. is home to many natural wonders, from the geysers of Yellowstone to the Grand Teton Mountain Range. And nestled in between are the Chico Hot Springs in Paradise Valley, MT. If you're looking for an off-the-beaten path vacation, this is the place for you.

Instructions

1. Research the area. Chico is located near the Absaroka Mountain Range, and its natural hot springs are the main draw to the area. Chico Hot Springs resort offers lodging in several capacities, from private cabins and lodges to hotel rooms. It's best to visit the resort's website where you can view pictures of all of the lodging opportunities before you decide where you'd like to stay. The resort's website is chicohotsprings.com.

As an added bonus, the resort allows you to bring your pet along for your stay.

2. Soak in the springs.

Chico has two outdoor pools, both naturally heated and one just a bit hotter than the other. Pool hours include early-morning time for adults only for those who want a little time away from the kids. This is a family-friendly resort, though, so you are likely to run into children during your stay.

There is a poolside bar for those wanting to enjoy some spirits while they soak, and you can order your drink in your bathing suit.

3. Don't forget to dine.

Chico offers three different places to enjoy some local food. The bar serves pub food, and a small, family-oriented restaurant is located next to the outdoor pools.

For those with fancier tastes, there is the Dining Room at Chico, where a local chef prepares upscale entrees and other dishes in part from ingredients grown in the resort's garden and green house. The garden is open for tours.

Later during the evening, head down to the Saloon, where various musical acts are scheduled throughout the year.

4. Go for a trail ride. The Chico horse barn offers trail rides throughout the year.

In the winter months, you can take an authentic dog-sled tour guided by a veteran musher. You're sure to be glad to come back to the hot springs after hours of sledding through the snow with a team of canines.

5. Head into town. If you're in the mood for a little shopping while at Chico, Bozeman, MT, is just about 45 minutes from the resort. An eclectic college town, Bozeman has something for everyone from large retail stores to small, locally-owned shops and restaurants.
