Ocean and Marine Engineering is a branch of engineering that is concerned with the structural aspects of offshore marine systems which relate to harnessing the ocean's resources. As of 2010, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) has accredited ten ocean engineering programs in the United States.


United States Naval Academy


With a low faculty to student ratio of 1:7, the United States Naval Academy is considered one of the premiere schools for a degree in Ocean and Marine Engineering. It received the #1 ranking, according to "U.S. News." Students interested in the Marine Engineering program must complete specific prerequisites and submit a separate application for admission to the program. This Academy had an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 4,300 students in 2009.
