Produce Soldiers In "Widelands"

"

Widelands" is a free, open-source strategy game inspired by "Settlers." The player chooses from one of three factions and guides them through the development of a city. Although the game emphasizes construction over destruction, it nevertheless has a military component. Players train soldiers and send them into enemy territory to expand their city-state. In order to do so, they first need to outfit their soldiers with equipment. The barbarians, empire and Atlanteans each have unique items that they need to train soldiers.

Instructions

Barbarians

1. Click on a mountain to place a flag . Click on the flag and choose "Send Geologist." Wait for the Geologist to scout the area. He'll look for iron, coal and gold deposits. If he finds any, he'll leave a flag.

2. Click on an iron flag to build an iron mine or click on a coal flag to build a coal mine. Build roads to connect these mines to your headquarters.

3. Build a smelter and axe factory near the mines, preferably on the same road. The closer they are to each other, the faster you'll be able to manufacture axes.

4. Construct a training camp or battle arena. So long as there's a supply of axes, these structures will train barbarian soldiers.
