Enter A Utm In Garmin

Garmin has a variety of GPS which can be used with UTM coordinates also.

UTM, Universal Transverse Mercator, is the main coordinate system used on Geological Survey topographic maps of the United States. It is similar to latitude and longitude except that the distances are measured in meters on a specific grid system. UTMs can be programmed into most Garmin models such as the Oregon and eTrex to help with orienteering and other outdoor activities.

Instructions

1. Turn on your Garmin. Select from Setup from the main menu and choose Position format. Select "Position Format UTM UPS."

2. Replace the latitude and longitude locations set by pressing the box called "Location" on the upper left of the screen.

3. Choose the option "Location (Selected)" instead of the "Location (Lat/Long)" box.

4. Click to save if you wish to keep the same location and simply convert the existing waypoint coordinates to UTM. Enter your UTM coordinates manually if you wish to change the waypoint.

5. Click "Save" to keep the new waypoint and name it something you will remember.

6. Check the "Waypoint Manager" to find the coordinates you have just input. Make sure the coordinates are in UTM format.
