Michigan Technical University offers education for prospective students to earn a bachelor of science in geological engineering. The school allows students to specialize in certain fields, like exploration of fossil fuels, hydrogeology, geomechanics and environmental planning. Many students who graduate from the program choose to become professional petroleum engineers. The curriculum is intended to be comprehensive. Michigan State University
The College of Engineering at Michigan State University offers undergraduate and graduate programs in environmental engineering that allow students to pursue a career in petroleum engineering. Students can pursue a bachelor's degree, master's degree or doctorate. About 2,800 undergrdaute students enroll at the college each year. The college offers nine different graduate engineering programs. Prospective students should make sure to carefully explore the application procedures, as admissions are very competitive.

University of Michigan College of Engineering
The College of Engineering at the University of Michigan operates the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, a program that offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees. Prospective students can take courses like engineering geology, excavation and tunneling, and geoenvironmental engineering, to name a few, which all specialize in petroleum engineering. In addition, the college has developed state-of-the-art research in topics like structural integrity, construction management, materials in new construction, and wastewater treatment. In all, about 5,500 undergraduate students and 2,600 graduate students enroll at the College of Engineering each year.
