Make Fake Stomach Acid

When creating a small-budget film according to the script, filmmakers can encounter the need to simulate fake stomach acid. Whether for a horror, thriller, comedy or drama, faux stomach acid can be difficult to create with an authentic look on camera. However, with a few techniques and easily acquired supplies, you can create realistic-looking stomach acid for your next film. These techniques can also be used to create simulated stomach acid for use in staged plays, Halloween decorations and horror costumes.

Instructions

1. Prepare edible fake stomach acid to be safely spit out of an actor's mouth. Pour 1/2 cup of corn syrup into the measuring cup. Add four to seven drops of yellow food coloring until the corn syrup is bright yellow in hue. Add two drops of green food coloring to the mix and stir with a stir stick, such as a wooden coffee stirrer.

2. Mix inedible fake stomach acid to be projected onto bodies or clothing. Create a mixture that can be washed safely off skin and clothing. Begin by mixing 1 cup of clear, liquid laundry detergent with 1 tbsp. of baking cocoa in a clean measuring cup. Stir the mixture with a coffee stir stick.

3. Mix dry oatmeal into each of the edible and non-edible mixtures. Scoop 1/8 cup of dry oats into the inedible mixture, and 1 tbsp. of dry oats into the edible mixture to create texture.

4. Add the candy bar to each mixture to create believable consistency and color. Chew up the flaky peanut butter and chocolate candy bar (such as a Butterfinger candy bar or the equivalent) until it is broken down by saliva and spit it back into the two mixtures. Chew and spit two-thirds of the candy bar into the inedible mixture and one-third of the candy bar into the edible mixture.

5. Add 1 or 2 drops of brown food coloring into each mixture to darken the color to your liking.
