Hot Springs In Montana

Soaking in hot springs is purported to be beneficial for your health.

Montana is home to 61 natural hot springs. Approximately 20 resorts and bath houses provide public access to the warm mineral waters. These geothermal aquifers are located all across the state, providing recreation, relaxation and purported therapeutic benefits to patrons. Hot springs are also used for heating in aquaculture and for buildings in Montana. There is even a city called Hot Springs in Montana.

Bozeman Hot Springs

The Bozeman area is home to the largest hot springs resort in Montana, the Bozeman Hot Springs Spa and Fitness, as well as approximately 12 additional hot springs. In 1879, the first pool was built to provide access to the hot springs. As of 2010, nine pools are located at the Bozeman hot springs. Water temperatures at the hot springs range from 59 to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. Crystal clear waters flow out of a geothermal well in the Gallatin Valley to fill Bozeman's hot springs. Swim laps in the larger pools or mediate in the pools featuring cascading waterfalls at the Bozeman Hot Springs Resort. A steam room and sauna round off the rejuvenating experience provided by the resort.

Chico Hot Springs

Chico hot springs are located south of Yellowstone National Park and 20 miles south of Livingston, Montana. Hot springs at Chico were first documented in 1865. A hotel quickly established itself by 1900 to accommodate guests to the hot springs. Visit the Chico Hot Springs Resort and Day Spa to discover the attraction of the warm waters. Slip into waters of large pools that average 96 degrees Fahrenheit, or test the warmer waters of the small pool which increase to an average of 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Take a dip in one of the open-air pools before visiting the country-western bar and fine dining restaurant at the resort.

Fairmont Hot Springs

Native Americans refer to the 12 hot springs at Fairmont as the "medicine waters." The waters at Fairmont are purported to cure rheumatism and arthritis, and are served as soups to cure these inflictions. Fairmont Hot Springs Resort provides ample opportunities for soaking in the hot springs. The resort is home to two mineral soaking pools, as well as two Olympic-size pools for swimming laps. Waters that supply the pools reach 155 degrees Fahrenheit, but the resort cools the temperatures so they are more agreeable to patrons. Slip down the 350-foot water slide and land in one of the swimming pools located outside. The expansive resort is home to other recreational activities. Play a round of golf or explore the wildlife zoo. Relax indoors at the Whispering Willows Spa, featuring reflexology and massages.
