Science Worksheet Activities

Science worksheets can help students test theories or demonstrate knowledge.

Science worksheets are a great way to allow students to demonstrate their understanding of a concept, or gather information regarding a specific lesson. Conveniently, science worksheets can cover topics ranging from the formation of the earth to animal habitats, and are easily tailored to fit any grade level.

The Earth's Layers

Elementary school students learning about the Earth's make-up can improve their knowledge by completing a worksheet about the Earth's layers. The worksheet itself should feature three circles, drawn within one another, to represent the Earth's three layers. To complete the sheet, students must label each layer appropriately as the crust, mantle and core. Provide blank lines at the bottom of the worksheet for students to list at least two interesting facts about each layer and finish the activity by asking students to appropriately color each layer.

Animal Diagrams

As students learn about the anatomy of different animals, provide simple worksheets for children to test their knowledge of animal body part identification. Animal worksheets should present students with a simple outline of an easily identified animal and arrows pointing towards five to 10 key parts of the animal. Provide blank lines at the end of the arrows for students to fill in the name of the specified body part. Younger students may also enjoy coloring the animals as time allows.

Weather Term Word Scramble

While students are learning the finer points of meteorology, provide them with a list of scrambled weather words. Words may include simple terms like "snow," or more complicated words such as "meteorologist" or "humidity." Provide space on the worksheet for students to provide definitions of each word after they have completed the scramble. Conveniently, this worksheet idea could be adapted to any science learning module to cover varied topics.

Nutrient Relations

Provide students learning about the effect of vitamins and proper nutrition on the human body to explore the effects of certain nutrients with this challenging worksheet. On a piece of paper, list five different vitamins and nutrients, such as calcium, Vitamin A and so forth. Next to each element, draw an arrow that says "helps," and points to three blank lines. Instruct students to research the effects of each element on the body and list three positive effects on the provided lines.
