Chicago Classic Rock Clubs

Chicago's lively music scene is historical and ever-changing. No matter if your preference is jazz, rock, blues or hip-hop the city's nightlife fails to disappoint. Numerous national and local acts perform, providing listening and entertainment options as abundant as the rolling city lines and shifting neighborhoods. From the downtown Loop to Uptown, various unique bars promise adventure and await your approval. Included among those bars are several that cater to fans of classic rock.

AliveOne

AliveOne is located in Lincoln Park on the north side of Chicago. Guests have a choice of hanging out in one of two rooms, each unique in its own vibe. Inside, burnt-orange walls, complete with photos of rock 'n' roll legends hanging from them, red floors and a cherrywood bar present an inviting, funky atmosphere. Couches flank the corners, and there is ample table and bar space. Sixteen different beers are on tap, including local Chicago microbrews. Rockumentaries play on the TV, DJs spin tunes, bands play live onstage and there's a jukebox offering live recordings of rock tunes.

The Kinetic Playground

A short train ride out of the downtown area and into Uptown on Chicago's north side sits a little local's favorite club that caters to "Classic Rock" lovers. Maybe it's the psychedelic murals of Jimi Hendrix and The Who that cover the walls or maybe it's the current-day playlist of songs that cover bands entertain the nightly crowds with, but either way this hidden gem beckons Rock lovers. Indie, Jam, and Reggae bands also perform original sounds. Couches and stools offer great views of the stage, and an elevated seating area in the back is available for privacy. A light cover charge sometimes applies, and the bar is open late on weekends.

Ten Cat Tavern

Ten Cat Tavern is a neighborhood bar complete with an outdoor beer garden. It's situated in the heart of Lakeview and rock tunes play on the juke box. The pool tables are often packed but you can play pinball and other video games while waiting your turn. The bar is cozy and busy on weekends, but the patio out back has ample seating. Nearby public transportation runs until bar closing hours.
