Full Pc Tower Ideas

If you are building your own computer, there are many reasons to choose a full tower case over a slimline or half tower design. A full tower case gives you much more room to work with, making upgrades fast and easy. A full tower case design also gives you plenty of room to install additional hard drives, DVD burners and other devices that will make your new computer much more useful.

Family Jukebox

The advent of MP3 files has revolutionized the way we listen to music, and the large capacity hard drives on the market today make it possible to store literally thousands of music files on a single computer. When coupled with a home network and freely available jukebox software, a tower computer can easily be transformed into a jukebox the entire family can share.

To take advantage of this technology, computer owners can simply share the drive or drives where the music is stored, and each member of the family can map a drive to those shared music files and play them on their own personal computers, laptops and other devices.

Home Entertainment Center

With DVD burners coming down in price and going up in quality, a tower computer can easily be transformed into a home entertainment center. There are a number of ways to create a home entertainment center from a tower PC. The simplest way to use the technology is to install a top quality DVD burner in the tower, couple it with a large flat screen monitor and use that computer to watch your favorite movies in high definition. If you want to add your favorite television shows to your home entertainment center, simply insert a USB-based TV tuner card, run the channel setup, and use the special remote to transform your computer into a top-quality digital TV set.

Backup Server

No matter what type of computer you own or how you use it, it is essential to back up your important files. Without a valid backup, your personal files could be lost forever. With a tower computer and a few high-capacity hard drives, you can use your home network to back up every computer in the house. By mapping each computer drive to the tower computer, you can use an off-the-shelf backup program to back up all your files to one of the hard drives in the tower.
