The state of Texas has many schools for petroleum engineering.
Texas Tech University defines petroleum engineering as "the practical application of the basic and physical sciences of mathematics, geology, physics, and chemistry and all of the engineering sciences to the discovery, development, and production, and transportation of petroleum." U.S. Energy Information Administration statistics show that Texas produces the most petroleum of any state in America, and petroleum engineering students in Texas will benefit from quality classes as well as the opportunity for experience in the field.
Texas A&M University
Texas A&M has campuses in College Station and Kingsville, Texas. The university offers petroleum engineering program at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with bachelor of science and doctoral programs in petroleum engineering. The undergraduate program is four years in length and the faculty has over 30 members. According to the university website, Texas A&M's graduate petroleum engineering program has been regularly ranked in "U.S. News and World Report's" list of top engineering programs in the United States, and is home to students from over 30 countries.
