Colleges With Cross Country Camps In Ohio

Extra training and expert advice are provided at running camps across Ohio.


Cross country camps can make all the difference when it comes time to compete in your cross country season. Many camps exist around Ohio for students looking for an opportunity to have more of an edge on their rival teams. These camps are mainly for high school students, but college students can get involved by becoming camp counselors and activity monitors.


Nike Cross Country Camp: Oberlin College


The Nike Running Camp program consists of morning and afternoon runs everyday, workshops during the day and fun activities for campers at night. The age group for this camp is 10 to 18 and runs toward the end of July each year. With overnight camping fees at $405 and day camp fees at $205 for the 2010 to 2011 programs, you get professional coaching, running form analysis, an insider's look at some of Nike's new products and a chance to make new friends who all share the same interest as you.


The Northwest Ohio Distance Running Camp: Mount Union University


Mount Union hosts one of the three Northwest Ohio Distance Running Camps. Being the newest camp site, there is room for plenty of new ideas and campers. You may reserve your spot immediately by paying the $270 fee for Resident Campers, the Early Bird Resident Camper's fee of $250 or the $190 fee for Commuter Campers for the 2010 to 2011 programs. They also provide a three-payment plan at the cost of one-third of the cost of registration. This camp also provides professional training as well as valuable knowledge useful for becoming a better runner, competitive or recreational.


Cross Country Motivation and Learning Camp: Malone College


This college in Canton, Ohio, hosts more of an in-depth learning experience for runners. Providing campers with top-of-the-line classes and seminars, this camp offers campers the knowledge they need to run more efficiently and smartly. Topics covered in the classes include training techniques, analysis of form, physiology of training, nutrition, special needs for female athletes, goal setting, prevention of injuries, strength development for runners and leadership skills. The camp also organizes daily runs, being sure to put campers in the correct mileage groups. Prices change each year. As more campers are added on, the price lowers.


Ohio State Cross Country Camp: Ohio State University


The Ohio State Cross Country Camp educates young athletes on proper training. Runners gain the knowledge of reach their goals and motivation and excitement for the upcoming season. The camp has two daily runs, guest speakers, breakout sessions and fun activities for campers. Teams of five or more campers from the same high school receive discount registration fees, and they stay in Ohio State's air-conditioned dorm rooms.
