Epson America Grants

Epson America was created in 1975 as the American based arm of the Japanese technology giant Seiko. Headquartered in Long Beach, California, its corporate giving program focuses the majority of its spending in the greater Los Angeles area; Indianapolis; Chicago; San Francisco; Miami; New York and Washington, D.C. The majority of Epson's grants are one time grants for up to $1,000 and their fiscal year begins on April 1 each year.

Education Grants

Epson awards grants to established, financially sound organizations that provide an opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of education. Areas of interest include programs that supplement or enhance existing curricula or improve skills like literacy, technical and leadership skills. The primary targets of Epson grants in education are nonprofits, educational institutions, libraries and museums. Proposals by individuals, government agencies and correctional institutions among others will not be funded.

Arts Grants

Epson awards arts grants that have the ability to "significantly enrich" or build the skills of children from kindergarten through high school in the arts field. Grants are also encouraged to be used to offer opportunities for "intellectual and artistic enrichment" and can include cultural activities, art programs and related services. In addition to the ban on entities listed in the education realm, Epson will also not fund grants for fraternal, social, labor or political organizations.

Technology Grants

Given their status as a business leader in the technology world, Epson has an obvious interest in giving to areas related to technology. In the past, Epson has given grants to eligible organizations that offer skill or technical enrichment for programs that specialize in technology and especially in programs that deal with digital imaging skills like scanning, digital photography and digital printing. Like all proposals with Epson, applicants must submit their typewritten proposals on organization letterhead to their corporate giving office in Long Beach, California.

Product Donation Grants

In addition to monetary grants, Epson also accepts proposals for donations of products that they currently produce. Items that have been donated in the past include: EPSON Stylus Color and EPSON Stylus Photo ink jet printers; EPSON Stylus All-in-Ones (Scan/Print/Copy); EPSON Stylus Pro wide-format printers; EPSON Expression and Perfection series flatbed scanners; and Multimedia and home theater projectors. When writing a proposal, authors must specify exact numbers of products and list the exact products they would like to use. Proposals for products may not be submitted more than once in any 12-month period.
