Landscape architecture

Landscape architecture and design is an environmental, sociological and aesthetic discipline. Urban design, site planning, environmental restoration, visual resource management, green infrastructure planning and landscape design are all required subjects for an accredited college curriculum. Landscape architecture incorporates botany, horticulture, fine arts, architecture, industrial design, geology and ecology. According to the American Society of Landscape Architects, there are three colleges in Arizona with accredited degree programs.
Arizona State University
The Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts at Arizona State University offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees through the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. The Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture program is a four-year curriculum that requires 120 hours of course work. The Master of Landscape Architecture degree is offered in both two- and three-year programs. Herberger College is located on the Arizona State University Tempe campus, about eight miles east of downtown Phoenix.

The Art Center Design College
The landscape architecture program at The Art Center Design College is an accredited, four-year undergraduate program culminating in a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree. The curriculum encompasses 166 hours of course work, and prepares students for the Landscape Architect Registration Examination. The Art Center Design College is a private college located in Tucson.

University of Arizona
The School of Landscape Architecture at the University of Arizona offers a three-year graduate program that confers a Master of Landscape Architecture degree upon completion. Prospective students can specialize in arid lands, historic and cultural landscapes, international studies, small town and urban revitalization, urban design, or ecotourism and sustainable development. The University of Arizona lies in central Tucson.
