View Gps Maps On A Pc

GPS maps are detailed and kept up to date.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) includes a satellite array that provides owners of GPS devices or GPS software detailed location and tracking capabilities. The maps generated are used by both civilians and the U.S. Army. Although GPS is often associated with hand-held devices or car navigation systems, it is possible to view GPS maps on your computer, from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Instructions

1. Download one of the many freeware GPS programs on the Internet. Follow the particular website's directions to download and install this software. See Resources for links to free GPS programs for any operating system.

2. Buy software online for more upscale GPS maps and tracking services. Paid-for GPS software is very often of higher quality and with more options than free GPS software. The downside, of course, is that you have to pay for it. Some pieces of GPS software, for example ExpertGPS, come with limited-time free trials.

3. Use an online program, such as GPS Visualizer, uTrack, GPSBabel or GPS TrackMaker, to view pre-gathered GPS data as an informative map. While these services are free, you must already have GPS data to upload; you cannot just browse GPS maps.
