Top Landscape Architecture Colleges
According to U.S. News and World Report in 2010, the top schools offering a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture are Cornell and University of California, Berkeley. Cornell is the only Ivy League school to offer a landscape architecture degree. This degree is offered through Cornell's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Berkeley offers a bachelor's and several advanced degrees in their Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning department, which is part of the university's College of Environmental Design.
Other top-quality colleges offering landscape architecture bachelor's degrees include the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; University of California, Davis; and Ohio State University.
Admission to Landscape Architecture Programs
Some landscape architecture bachelor's degree programs, including the program at Cornell, request that the applicant submit a design portfolio in addition to the standard admissions requirements. This portfolio can encompass art forms ranging from drawing to graphics software, and is used to determine the applicant's gifts in visual design.
