Forensic Entomology Schools

Forensic entomologists study insect behavior.

Forensic entomologists apply their understanding of insect behavior and genetics to study a crime scene. Entomologists are able to identify the place, time and cause of a crime by drawing on their expertise in the structure and life cycle of insects. Forensic entomology programs are housed in entomology departments at colleges and universities nationwide. Degrees in forensic entomology are offered at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.

University of California Davis

The department has received funding from several prestigious organizations including the National Academy of Sciences, Fellows of the Entomology Society of America and the Harry Hoogstraal Medal. Students can enroll in undergraduate and graduate degree programs in entomology. The Master of Science program in forensic entomology is a multi-disciplinary field of study; students will receive their training from faculty who are experts in psychology, law, medicine and engineering. Students must complete six core courses in addition to submitting a thesis or capstone project.
