Give the gift of books to a fourth grader. You may have heard groans when a book was in the mix, but it was probably because of the type of book. Giving magic tricks is a unique and fun idea. There are kits with the materials needed for magic tricks that are explained in an accompanying manual for under $10. You could also give a book of magic tricks that uses cups, string or other household items that are close at hand.

Purchasing a science kit for a fourth grader is a creative gift. Science kits range in price, depending upon the extent of the experiments. There's no shortage of types of science kits, which range from geology to physics.
