Using Edline Interactive in the classroom
Many parents wish they had the flexibility in their daily work schedule to be more involved with their child's education. Advances in technology have provided schools with the Edline program. Edline's Interactive Classroom brings the web to life with online discussions, electronic homework hand-in, online assessments and interactive assignments. Online quizzes and tests are available for teachers as well as automatic grading systems. This program allows teachers to keep track of assignments that students are missing as well as notify parents and guardians of students progress and grades.
Instructions
1. Create online discussions. Post a starting topic on any web page that discusses or explains a certain topic being covered in class. Edit the data in Edline to include or restrict access for particular classes or groups of students. Review the responses made by the students prior to publishing them for others with access to view.
2. Create and publish homework assignments online and provide additional practice work for students. Students can complete homework assignments and submit them to the teacher through the website. This will reduce the amount of assignments missed because the student forgot to write it down.
3. Create a web page where students can submit homework assignments directly to the teacher from their home computers. This will reduce the amount of paper being used as well as reduce the amount of homework being left at home or lost.
4. Create tests and quizzes. Choose questions and answers from a selection of styles such as multiple choice, single choice or open-ended questions. Answer selections include drop-down choices or text entry. Allow the students to take the quiz or test online through the web page reducing the amount of paper being used in the classroom.
5. Track assignments that have or have not been completed by each student. Check mark the assignments completed and send e-mails to those students with assignments still due. Notify parents of students' progress and grades through a devoted web page accessible by parents and students.
