Summer Camps For Kids In Northern Kentucky

Invent robots at a kids camp in northern Kentucky.


Summer camps in northern Kentucky range from traditional camps with swimming, crafts and friendship building to scientific camps that encourage children to explore a range of interesting topics. Half-day programs are available for children between the ages of 4 and 5 at some camps, while others offer residential stays of a week or more.


Campbell County YMCA


The YMCA in Campbell County offers various residential and day summer camp programs for children ages 5 to 16. Camps for children between the ages of 5 and 10 offer different weekly themes such as School's Out, Games Galore, Holiday Happenings, Wild, Wild West and Operation Y Spy. During the Wild, Wild West week, campers make posters and build a town with a saloon, church and more from cardboard boxes and other materials. The Operation Y Spy camp teaches children about decoding, life detectors and more, and includes mystery meals throughout the week. Children between the ages of 11 and 12 can take part in a week of swimming, field trips and fundraising, while children between 13 and 16 years of age can join the Advanced Camping Experience for leadership and cultural learning. All overnight campers also participate in a variety of physical activities such as rope challenges, horseback riding and canoeing.

Club Scientific


Camp programs are divided into three categories, based on age. Programs for children between 3 and 4 years of age include a Discovery program, Little Engineer, Jurassic and Junior Chemist. The Jurassic program introduces campers to dinosaurs, fossils and geology through projects that include building pteranodon models and a volcano. Campers between the ages of 6 and 8 can choose between programs such as Young Scientist, Paleo, Cosmos, Young Physician, Little Robot Inventor and Grossology. The Young Physician program teaches campers about blood vessels, muscles, hair and more, and campers build model lungs, test for germs and build a spinal column. Programs for children between the ages of 9 and 13 include Emergency Vet, CSI and Video Game Maker. In the CSI program, campers meet real crime scene investigators and forensic pathologists. Projects include analyzing blood, fiber, fingerprints and DNA.

Kentucky 4-H


The North Central 4-H camp is located on a 350-acre private property and offers summer camping programs to children between 9 and 13 years of age. The weeklong program is a residential camp that offers a variety of traditional activities, outdoors experience and the opportunity to build new friendships. Campers reside in onsite cabins throughout the program with children of similar age. The camp has a common dining hall, store, low-ropes challenge course, athletic field and swimming pool. A six-acre lake runs through the property. Activities include archery, swimming, crafts and canoeing. Campers also go on several nature hikes throughout the area and have several evening campfires.
