The Oregon 450 is a hand-held GPS unit made by Garmin. The Oregon series has a touch-screen and color display. The Oregon 450 accepts SD cards to load maps as needed. Topo maps are loaded onto the Oregon 450 via the SD card slot. Extra maps and 24k scale topo maps are available through Garmin on the SD cards. Because the SD card slot is behind the batteries in the battery housing, take the time to check your batteries and recharge them when adding new maps to the device.
Instructions
1. Open the battery panel on the back of the Oregon 450. Pull out the AA batteries to expose the metal plate that protects the SD card slot.
2. Pull the metal plate up and insert the Garmin SD topo map card into the SD card slot. Place the batteries back into the housing and close the panel. Flip the latch to lock the batteries and SD card into the 450.
3. Turn the device on and wait for the default menu screen to appear. Tap the "Maps" icon. Tap the particular topo maps from the SD card you wish to transfer to the Oregon.
4. Wait for the transfer to take place. Once complete, select and tap the map you wish to use.
