Apegga Requirements

APEGGA regulates engineers as well as geologists and geophysicists in Alberta, Canada.

APEGGA stands for the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta. The organization regulate the practices of engineers, geology, and geophysics in Alberta, Canada. In order to apply to be a member of APEGGA, there are several requirements that need to be met.

Academic Requirements

To satisfy the academic requirement for licensure with APEGGA one must take an accredited Canadian engineering college program. There are also several countries that have mutual recognition, which means if you have an engineering degree from an accredited college in one of those countries, APEGGA will recognize it. You may also be asked to complete an examination before being licensed, but this can be waived if you have a post graduate degree or experience in the field.

Experience Requirements

Having experience is not a necessity unless one is trying to waive taking the exam for licensure. Experience is considered at least four years in engineering, with one year being in Canada. References are required from at least three engineers or geophysicists with whom you have personally worked.

Registration

Before licensing can be granted, applicants will need to submit a registration form. Those graduating from an accredited Canadian program will register at a APEGGA sponsored luncheon at the end of their senior year. For those not graduating from a Canadian school, contact APEGGA for a registration packet and testing dates.
