Texas has several quality summer track camps for athletes of all ages and skill levels
Athletes who take their sport seriously never stop training, even in summer. They keep their bodies in shape and their skills honed year-round to stay competitive. Texas athletes take a great deal of pride in their achievements, and there are many summer track camps in the Lone Star state that help these "field warriors" stay at their peak performance level.
Champion Trainers, LLC
Eric Thomas, an award-winning hurdler and member of the 2000 U.S. Olympic Track and Field team, formed Champion Trainers LLC to bring his world-class skills and love of the sport to young athletes in Texas. Thomas' summer track camps are held at the Track and Field Stadium of Rice University and offer students between the ages of 9 and 21 the opportunity to take advantage of his knowledge and experience. The weekly workout sessions focus on improving the speed, agility, and mechanics of running in an atmosphere of overall fitness and well-being. His extensive background in amateur competition has given him invaluable experience that he passes on through tips and secrets on speed training, endurance, and goal-setting. Sessions are limited to 20 athletes so that Thomas can provide individual attention to each student, much like a personal trainer. Session prices range from $35 for each child under 12 to $100 per person for professional athletes, as of 2010. Group discounts are available, and senior citizens may also register at discounted rates.
