Use A Craftsman Multimeter

Your Craftsman multimeter is an extremely useful tool for anyone who regular works with electrical units. Your Craftsman multimeter will allow you to check for AC or DC voltages, resistance, continuity of electricity and the amount of electrical current in your circuits. Correctly using your Craftsman multimeter is important, so you know the status of your AC or DC outlets

Instructions

1. Locate the parts on your Craftsman multimeter. You will see the main dial, which will include to the various values behind the window of the multimeter. The pointer looks just like a hand on a watch and will point to various numbers on the dial depending on what you are measuring.

2. Set the meter to test for AC voltage. You can set your meter to the other settings and follow these same directions to test other leads, such as DC.

3. Find the jacks used for testing leads, such as electrical current. These will be on the two bottom corners of your Craftsman multimeter and marked with either - or +. Also locate the test leads, one black and the other red. This is where you will actually insert the wires for whatever you are going to test.

4. Insert the black probe into the - jack and insert the red probe into the + jack. Locate an outlet that you wish to test, and insert the other ends of the probes into the outlet. This will cause the pointer on the dial to move to the corresponding voltage number. You have just successfully used your Craftsman multimeter to test the electrical current of that particular outlet.

5. Check the selector switch, which is likely on the front of your multimeter. This switch will allow you to select what you need to measure, such as volts or amps.
