Create A Free Genogram

Create a Free Genogram

A genogram can be used both to map out a family tree and to show trends or uniqueness in the traits displayed by individual members or family groups of the tree as a whole. With the help of genogram creation app or a web-based utility, you can create a genogram for your family tree. There's no need to pay for a genogram utility--there are plenty of free options that rival commercial genogram creation utilities.

Instructions

1. Create a free genogram online using Progenygenetics' Free Online Pedigree App. The web-based genogram creation utility lets you construct a genogram by connecting the family groups of your family tree in the utility's interface. You can add labels and color-coded symbols to each family member and family group to represent unique characteristics or trends in the genogram.

2. Download a free copy of WinGeno to create a free genogram. WinGeno works by allowing users to plot a male or female family member, and from there, you can add the individual's parents or children. With the help of the Connection Tool, you can draw connections between the family members in your genogram. While WinGeno doesn't include symbols or markers to display trends or unique traits, the Text Box and Free Draw tools can be used to add labels to individuals in your genograms.

3. Download a free copy of GenoPro Beta 2 to create a genogram. GenoPro Beta2 lets you draw relationships between the members of your family tree on the utility's pliable bitmap interface--everything from emotional relationships to social groups. Every element of your genogram is pliable--you can adjust the dimensions of shapes, draw arrows to show connections and text labels. After you're satisfied with your genogram, you can generate a report of all of the data you compiled.
