The Delta 622 kitchen sink faucet is later model from Delta. If you want to extend its life, replacing the cartridge inside the faucet is a good way to do that. This also fixes problems with the faucet like leakage and inconsistent performance. To make this repair, all you need are basic skills. No plumber or special laborer is necessary. It takes about 20 minutes or more if you have very little experience at replacing sink parts.
Instructions
1. Close the water valves on the pipes below the sink to stop water flow to the faucet. Lift the handle to the on position to drain the lines.
2. Take off the handle to the Delta 622: remove the cap on the front of the round handle and loosen the small screw underneath it with a screwdriver. Slide the handle off the cartridge stem.
3. Remove the bonnet, or cartridge nut as it is also called. This is the washer ring around the body of the faucet under the handle. Grip it gently with pliers and turn it carefully to the left to loosen and remove it. Do not over-turn it, as this will damage the faucet parts beneath the fixture.
4. Take the cartridge out after the bonnet is removed. Replace it with brand new Delta 622 cartridge (this is the only part that works on this faucet). Replace the bonnet or cartridge nut.
5. Slide the handle back on the stem of the cartridge. Insert and thread the handle screw and tighten it with the screwdriver. Place the cap back on the faucet.
