Drylock vs T horoughseal??Help needed ASAP

HI I want to have my basement walls coated with a nice waterproofing (waterrepellant?) paint. (preferably a tan color). I don't have a severe moisture problem, just minor dampness after a heavy rain. I have a fairly new house, and just want something to help brighten up the basement and provide a bit of protection. I have been getting estimates to have the work done,,,most contractors are mentioning Thoroughseal. Another mentioned the Drylok (available at Home Depot/Lowes?). Which might be the best? Some contractors are saying they can only get the Thoroughseal in white (which I don't want a white color on the walls) Would 1 coat be enough of either product?? Thanks for any advice. I think that Thoroseal is available in gray and white. I remember seeing some atchitectural precast concrete that had a two coat application. The first was Thoroseal and I believe the second coat was Thorosheen (sp?) that was available in different tints. It is more of a finish coating. There are several other products in the Thoro line (Thoroplug is another). Many contractors that do not do commercial or institutional work may not be aware of the products available. Try to Google for Thoro products. All are cement-based coatings with latex and waterproofers incorporated. Thoro products have been around for a long time 40 years plus). Drylok is a more recent product. Thoroseal is a cementitious coating that becomes a part of the concrete. Drylok is more of a paint that penetrates and is either water or oil based. Dick Thanks for the info. If anyone else has any preference between Thoroseal Drylok, please let me know! Consumer Reports recommends Latex Dry-Lok. Thoroseal got the lowest scores. The premixed UGL Drylok Latex Base Masonry Waterproofer performed the best in our tests. The latex formulation scored slightly higher than the brand's oil-based version.
