Sloan Flushmate Troubleshooting
The Sloan Flushmate is a system that uses air pressure to flush a toilet. Sloan warranties the Flushmate system for a full 10 years after purchase. During the warranty period, any part that is defective is replaced free of charge. Labor costs are the responsibility of the owner. The tank has a lifetime guarantee. Troubleshoot the Flushmate system to resolve common issues and save the labor costs for other problems in the home.
Instructions
Water Runs Continuously
1. Turn the water supply valve on fully. Low water pressure can cause the water to run continuously.
2. Check the actuator adjustment. The actuator is located on the top of the tank. If the flush rod or push button obstructs the actuator, loosen the setscrew with a screwdriver and move the actuator up or down as needed. Tighten the setscrew.
3. Turn off the water supply and flush the toilet. Disconnect the water supply on the supply shank. Remove the inlet screen and clean it with a straightened paperclip. Replace the inlet screen and reconnect the water supply to the supply shank. Turn on the water supply.
4. Remove the flush valve cartridge after turning off the water supply valve. Flush the toilet and take the flush rod off the handle linkage. Turn the flush valve cartridge counterclockwise and pull it out with a pair of pliers. Replace the cartridge if the O-rings are damaged. Reinsert the flush valve cartridge, or insert a new flush valve cartridge. Turn on the water supply and turn the cartridge clockwise until the water stops running into the toilet bowl. Flush the toilet to test it. Reinstall the flush rod and handle linkage.
Weak or No Flush
5. Turn the water supply on fully. Low water pressure can prevent flushing or cause weak flushes.
6. Remove the inlet screen. Clean and replace it.
7. Turn off the water supply and flush the toilet to relieve pressure. Remove the air inducer cap on the top of the tank. Squeeze the sides of the duckbill valve and remove it. Rinse the valve to remove mineral deposits or other obstructions. Replace the duckbill valve and the air inducer cap. Turn on the water supply.
8. Place two to three drops of water in the cartridge housing area on top of the tank. Flush the toilet and watch the area around the flush valve cartridge. If bubbles appear, replace the flush valve cartridge.
