Make Glowing Bottles For A Black Light

Using a black light lamp can add a whole new dimension to your party decor options. However, there's only so much you can do with black light posters and white cloth. To add a fun element to your party you can do what many trendy bars do and make glow-in-the-dark liquor bottles. The materials are inexpensive and the result is fun and impressive under the black light.

Instructions

1. Choose your bottles. Liquor bottles can provide interesting shapes and patterns for your glowing bottles. Make sure that you have the caps to seal the bottles to prevent spilling.

2. Ensure your ink or detergent glows. A bright highlighter color doesn't necessarily glow under black light and not all detergents have the whitening ingredient that works well under black light.

3. Make your mixture. Mix the detergent with water until it's diluted enough to allow light through. If you're using a highlighter, pry off the back of the highlighter and pull out the ink core. Squeeze the core from the top down so that the ink drips into the water. You can also soak the core in rubbing alcohol to dissolve the ink and pour the alcohol/ink mixture into the water. If you're using glow powder, mix according to the directions. Remember that the more diluted the mixture, the weaker the glow is.

4. Seal your bottles and decorate. Make sure you place the bottles within range of the black light.

5. Turn off the light, turn on the black light and enjoy.
