Create a new custom entertainment center using kitchen cabinets and drawers.
You've looked at the entertainment centers at furniture stores and are unimpressed with the quality and shocked at the price. Do something about it and build your own custom entertainment center with prefabricated cabinets. You can make an entertainment center complete with cabinets, drawers and even spinning shelves.
Instructions
1. Measure the area where you want the entertainment center installed.
2. Sketch out exactly what you want the entertainment center to look like. A few factors to consider would be whether the TV is mounted on the wall or sits on a surface, how much space you need for media storage, size of speakers and other technology and whether you need child proofing for certain parts of the entertainment center.
3. Go to a hardware store and see what is available in prefabricated cabinets. Look at countertop surfacing as well and decide what pieces you'll need. You can save even more money on the purchase by using unfinished cabinets and staining and finishing them yourself.
4. Combine the pieces into the design you want. Secure each piece together using metal joints and screw the countertop in place with the guide holes.
